The role of common channel signaling, referred to as Signaling System No.7 (SS7), in the evolution of services in an interexchange carrier environment is discussed. The importance of SS7 in evolving the intelligent network necessary to support these services is addressed. Interworking with virtual private networks via the out-of-band ISDN messaging channel (D-channel) to extend the capabilities of SS7 network signaling to customer networks is also discussed. For ubiquitous support of ISDN, CLASS, and future services, the interworking of interexchange SS7 with domestic local exchange carriers as well as foreign administrations is critical. This service and intelligent network evolution is described. Emphasis is placed on services and the anticipated migration to those types of services which demand an intelligent interaction and close coupling of both virtual private networks and local public switched networks to the interexchange network  相似文献

An In0.41Al0.59As/n+-In0.65 Ga0.35As HFET on InP was designed and fabricated, using the following methodology to enhance device breakdown: a quantum-well channel to introduce electron quantization and increase the effective channel bandgap, a strained In0.41Al0.59As insulator, and the elimination of parasitic mesa-sidewall gate leakage. The In0.65Ga0.35As channel is optimally doped to ND=6×1018 cm-3. The resulting device (Lg=1.9 μm, Wg =200 μm) has ft=14.9 GHz, fmax in the range of 85 to 101 GHz, MSG=17.6 dB at 12 GHz VB=12.8 V, and ID(max)=302 mA/mm. This structure offers the promise of high-voltage applications at high frequencies on InP  相似文献

This article presents accurate measurement-based models derived from measured S-parameters of passive circuit elements which include inductors, thin-film resistors, interdigital and MIM capacitors, via holes, and airbridges for use in the computer-aided design of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). The thru-reflect-line (TRL) calibration method is employed to accurately measure the S-parameters of the passive elements. Some of the models are scalable for different substrate thicknesses and substrate dielectric constant values as they are based on microstrip line theory. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The Case for VM-Based Cloudlets in Mobile Computing   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
Mobile computing continuously evolve through the sustained effort of many researchers. It seamlessly augments users' cognitive abilities via compute-intensive capabilities such as speech recognition, natural language processing, etc. By thus empowering mobile users, we could transform many areas of human activity. This article discusses the technical obstacles to these transformations and proposes a new architecture for overcoming them. In this architecture, a mobile user exploits virtual machine (VM) technology to rapidly instantiate customized service software on a nearby cloudlet and then uses that service over a wireless LAN; the mobile device typically functions as a thin client with respect to the service. A cloudlet is a trusted, resource-rich computer or cluster of computers that's well-connected to the Internet and available for use by nearby mobile devices. Our strategy of leveraging transiently customized proximate infrastructure as a mobile device moves with its user through the physical world is called cloudlet-based, resource-rich, mobile computing. Crisp interactive response, which is essential for seamless augmentation of human cognition, is easily achieved in this architecture because of the cloudlet's physical proximity and one-hop network latency. Using a cloudlet also simplifies the challenge of meeting the peak bandwidth demand of multiple users interactively generating and receiving media such as high-definition video and high-resolution images. Rapid customization of infrastructure for diverse applications emerges as a critical requirement, and our results from a proof-of-concept prototype suggest that VM technology can indeed help meet this requirement.  相似文献

Plasma treatment effect on the surface energy of carbon and carbon fibers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The surface energy dispersive (γDS) and polar (γPS) components of carbon model surfaces (bal planes, prismatic surfaces, vitreous carbon) and of carbon fibers (high strength and high modulus, respectively) were determined systematically before and after plasma treatment. The method used is essentially based on the wetting contact angle measurements within two liquids. In all cases (γPS) is markedly increased by the plasma treatment. For carbon fibers, with increasing plasma treatment duration (γPS) is increasing toward a limiting value (-30 mJ/m2) while (γDS) is depressed toward low values (-10 mJ/m2). The parallel evolution of surface topography is followed by SEM observations. The changes in surface energy of carbon model surfaces is also discussed.  相似文献

The escalating prices, rapid diminution of fossil fuels, tenacious regulations of the authorities, etc. enforced towards the alternate biogenic fuel for lubrication. The present study assessed the lubricity characteristics of Phyllanthus Emblica seed oil based lubricants by using a pin on disc (POD) tester. The design of experimentations has been carried out using response surface methodology (RSM). The value of parameters such as blend ratio, load and sliding speed ranges from 0 to 20%, 50 to 100?N and 1.3 to 3.8?m/s, respectively, are used to assess the value of specific wear rate (SWR) and coefficient of friction (COF). Test results illustrate that the adhesive wear occurred during the experiments. It has been observed that AB10 shows the probable results in terms of wear and friction characteristics as compared to other lubricant variants at low load and high sliding velocity conditions and perform as an excellent lubricant additive. This contributes towards the replacement of petroleum based lubricants. Analytical ferrography and total acid number (TAN) analysis of the used oil was also done to study the wear debris in the oil.  相似文献

A two-dimensional finite element model describing the performance of parallel-plate regenerators with arbitrary channel width distributions has been developed in order to investigate the effect of non-uniform plate spacing on the performance of regenerators. Results for a series of hypothetical plate spacing distributions are presented in order to understand the impact of spacing non-uniformity. Simulations of more realistic distributions where the plate spacings follow normal distributions are then discussed in order to describe the deviation of the performance of a regenerator relative to one with uniform spacing as a function of the standard deviation of the plate distribution. It has been shown that the most significant reduction in performance occurs when a volume of fluid between 100% and 200% of the regenerator void volume is displaced in a single blow.  相似文献
